“Tillotson College from 1930-1940, A Study of the Total Institution”, 1940

This Tillotson course syllabus on the “History of Civilization” surveys a remarkably broad range of cultures, including not only Greek and Roman antiquity but also Indian, Chinese, Byzantine, Persian, and Arabic history. The provision of this course along with classical language instruction introduced students in the 1930s to global premodernity.
